Viral example: Shuffle

Here’s another example of something that is viral (A school teacher was telling me that the kids were all doing it at school).

It has the elements I mentioned in another viral example.

It adds a another element. It’s instructional.

This is nothing new. For example if you look at the Chubby Checker video below you can see that element. Actually this was a strong element of the music business at the time. The Ottawa Public Library has a documentary called “Twist” that details the plethora of memes and marketing activities of the time.

Another element of the shuffle video is that the source of the meme is not strongly focused on a hub. Everybody participates. To illustrate this point, here is Derek Sivers (TEDster).

As Derek says “New followers, emulate the followers, not the leader”.
